SAN DIEGO, July 14, 2015 -- A new tide is coming in at Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina. To the delight of enthusiastic San Diego yachters, the luxury hotel has scheduled a $7 million marina renovation that will begin in the final quarter of 2015.

The renovation, which represents an investment by Host Hotels & Resorts, will include the replacement or repair of wood and concrete structures, power panels, rub rails and cleats throughout the 446-slip marina, which is home to approximately 450 yachts. The renovation will be completed one dock at a time, and vessels that are displaced during the overhaul will be temporarily relocated to other areas in the Marina or to other local marinas.

The hotel will also build a new restroom and coin-operated laundry facility for the convenience of marina visitors.

"This project is the most extensive renovation in the 30-year history of the marina," said Steve Pagano, manager of Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina. "We're confident that this overhaul will result in a marina that our customers and the community at large are extremely proud of."

Guests at the marina enjoy access to the hotel's state-of-the-art fitness center and resort-style swimming pools and whirlpools. Additionally, marina guests are offered a 10 percent discount at the hotel's five on-site restaurants. Food and beverage purchases can be charged to guests' marina accounts for a completely hassle-free dining experience.

Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina is home to Marina Kitchen Restaurant & Bar, known for its inventive modern American cuisine; Tequila Bar & Grille, which offers Baja-style Mexican cuisine and cocktails; and Roy's, famous for its Asian-fusion dishes and tropical libations. The hotel also features Exchange, which offers a variety of on-the-go snacks and drinks, and a Starbucks coffeehouse.

The San Diego marina hotel boasts a luxurious spa, ideal for unwinding after an adventure-filled day on the water. Whether in the mood for a reinvigorating body scrub, detoxifying body wrap, soothing massage or rejuvenating facial, The Hideaway is the ultimate destination for total relaxation.

The downtown San Diego hotel offers easy access to the city's most celebrated attractions, including the San Diego Zoo, San Diego Convention Center and Gaslamp Quarter, which boasts an incredible selection of unique restaurants and electrifying nightlife. Seaport Village, known for its charming shops and live entertainment, is just a short walk away.
